GPU-Z 0.4.6 released, includes hardware giveaway
Adds basic detection for AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series
Our friend W1zzard over at TechPowerUp has just released another timely update to his famous graphics processor information and subsystem diagnostic utility, GPU-Z 0.4.6. The latest version of the utility now adds support for a variety of second-generation Nvidia Fermi desktop cards, including Geforce GTS 455, GTS 450, GT 440, GT 430, and GT 420. Support has also been added for second-generation Fermi notebook GPUs, including GT218-based ION products, Geforce GTX 470M, GTX 460M, GT 445M, GT 435M, GT 425M, GT 420M, GT 415M.

The update also adds basic detection for AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series graphics cards and improves handling for unknown NVIDIA cards. Minor bug fixes and improvements include an issue with broken BIOS reading on all cards, an issue with temperature readings getting stuck on the ADT7473 sensor (Geforce GTX 400 Series cards), added support for Geforce 310M, added support for ATI FirePro V8750, added fan RPM monitoring for NVIDIA cards, and general improvements to Intel support (still far from perfect).
However, the biggest announcement with the GPU-Z 0.4.6 release is that MSI and TechPowerUp are teaming up for a new hardware giveaway. Six lucky winners to use the utility will receive new high-end GPU hardware from MSI over the span of two months (three hardware giveaways per month). "We are giving away two each of the MSI R5870 Lightning, the MSI N460GTX HAWK, and the MSI R5770 HAWK," said a TechPowerUp official. "To participate, simply fill out the "MSI Giveaway" tab in GPU-Z.
